Folkestone and District Dog Training Club (FDDTC/Folkestone Dog Training) has been running since 1966. Our first training sessions took place at Hill Road. Since then we have moved to three others, before settling at the United Reformed Church Hall, where we had been since 1984. Now we are located at Hawkinge Community Centre.

We are Kennel Club registered and our emphasis is on training friendly, obedient pets. We also train towards and arrange the testing of the Kennel Club (KC) Good Citizen (GCDS) awards. Many of our members have passed their Bronze, Silver and Gold awards and all our puppies that have successfully completed a Puppy Class, graduate with the KC Puppy Foundation award.

Our trainers keep themselves up-to-date with all the modern ideas by going to various seminars and training weekends. For example our trainers and committee members have undertaken courses in clicker training, the canine-human interface, Rally Obedience, Tellington Touch and dog behaviour and have been to the Annual Birmingham Dog Symposium. Also some of our trainers are under going, and completed their KCAI (this is a course in which they gain a qualification for training dogs run by the Kennel Club)

We are a not-for-profit organisation and each year we give money to various charities.

Charities we have donated to in the past include:
The Pilgrims Hospice (Ashford); Guide Dogs UK; Support Dogs; Dogs for the Disabled; Hearing Dogs for Deaf People; The Blue Cross; The PDSA; Rhodes Minnis Cat Sanctuary; The Blond McIndoe Research Foundation and The Guinea Pig Club; The Celia Blakey Centre (William Harvey Hospital, Ashford); Special Care Baby Unit (William Harvey Hospital, Ashford); United Reformed Church Restoration Fund; Animal Health Trust, Nowzad, HypoHounds, Folkestone Arrows wheelchair basketball club, winston's wheels.

Our classes are safe, friendly and fun and we treat each dog and owner as individuals. Every year we have various social events such as the Annual Sponsored Walk (which takes place in September), training days, the summer and Christmas parties and competitions (for owners and dogs!) and the Christmas Meal.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
